Kayley Griffin
This book is very directly forward. The author does non go into unnecessary detail and he nails each fact without fluff. This is helpful, but information technology also tin come across equally edgeless to some readers. Even so, I notwithstanding highly recommend this book to anyone who seeks biblical wisdom in the areas of marriage or family.

Strong overview of important topics pertaining to the wedlock and family unit. The connection with Christ'south bride the church building was also a very strong bespeak with this volume. The authors really were able to hash out controversial topics in a biblical manner, staying true to the context of all texts presented. I would highly recommend this volume for all believers to read! Last week I read Köstenberger and Jones' newest book, Matrimony and the Family unit: Biblical Essentials. This work appears to a be a simplified version of God, Spousal relationship, and Family: Rebuilding the Biblical Foundation by the aforementioned 2 men.

In the first chapter of the volume the authors look at wedlock in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. They sketched their thoughts forth these lines:

I. Spousal relationship in the Old Testament

1. Rooted in Cosmos (Genesis 1-3)
two. Created in God'southward Image to Rule the Earth

Terminal week I read Köstenberger and Jones' newest book, Marriage and the Family unit: Biblical Essentials. This work appears to a be a simplified version of God, Matrimony, and Family: Rebuilding the Biblical Foundation by the same two men.

In the first affiliate of the book the authors wait at marriage in the Old Testament and in the New Attestation. They sketched their thoughts along these lines:

I. Marriage in the Old Attestation

1. Rooted in Creation (Genesis 1-3)
ii. Created in God's Paradigm to Rule the Earth for God
three. The Human being'due south Ultimate Responsibility for the Spousal relationship and the Wife'due south Role as His "Suitable Helper"
4. The Fall of Humanity and Its Consequences

II. Developments in the History of Israel

ane. Martial Roles According to the Old Testament
2. Violations of God'due south Platonic for Matrimony in Aboriginal Israel

3. Glimpses of the Ideal (Wisdom Literature)

1. The Excellent Wife (Proverbs 31)
two. The Dazzler of Sex in Marriage (Song of Solomon)

IV. Marriage in the New Testament

i. No Longer Two, but One: Jesus's High View of Wedlock
ii. Submission and Sensitivity: Peter'due south Message to Husbands and Wives (1 Pet. iii:1-vii)
3. Paul's Vision for Marriage (1 Cor. 7:2-5; ane Tim. two:15; iv:one-4; Eph. five:21-33)

This showtime chapter was well washed and was helpful and a skillful foundation for the rest of the book. The one indicate of disagreement that stuck out to me was that these men practise let for divorce in certain situations (run into chapter vii of the book). I tend to take a college view of the topic and maintain that divorce is not commanded in any situation. This was not the point of their book, so I'll merely get out it at that.

The remainder of the volume deals with issues like ballgame, adoption, contraception, homosexuality, and infertility. Overall this volume was helpful and a good summary of God, Marriage, and Family unit: Rebuilding the Biblical Foundation, their previous work.

FTC Rhetoric: I do not receive payment for my volume reviews. I exercise sometimes receive free review and giveaway copies from authors, publishers, and publicists. My get-go responsibility is to my readers, therefore, I am committed to honest reviews.
